It was a memorable weekend for Pitch Representation’s Barry Baggley, with the 17-year-old making his League One debut for Fleetwood Town.
Baggley, who became the youngest ever debutant for Fleetwood Town, came off the bench for the Joey Barton managed side as they took on Walsall at Bescott Stadium.
Baggley’s father, also named Barry, captured the proud moment as his son ran onto the pitch with eight minutes remaining in the match.
While Walsall would go onto win the match 2-0, Baggley and fellow debutant Ryan Rydel were singled out by their manager for a making a strong first impression.
“"I've high hopes for young Barry and Ryan, and it was great to get them on the pitch for their debuts," said Barton.
"I thought the young players helped us get more energy and poise in the game, which is incredible to say a 17 and 18-year-old came on and put the senior players to shame.”
Baggley has featured for the Fleetwood U18 team prior to Saturday, having arrived from Glentoran at the start of the season. He’s also represented Northern Ireland at age-group level.
A big congratulations to Barry and his family for this amazing achievement at such a young age!
