Pitch Representation’s Kieran Trippier became the 123rd player to captain England on Thursday night, wearing the armband in a 3-0 win over Wales.
England announced just before the game that that the honour would be bestowed upon the 30-year-old, who had previously appeared for the senior national side 21 times.
Trippier has made no secret that he considers playing for England the pinnacle. To top off the special night, he provided an assist with a beautiful cross to Conor Coady for the second goal.
It was part of an assured performance from Trippier and England, who were in full control for the friendly at Wembley Stadium.
The Three Lions now prepare for two important Nations League matches, the first against world number one Belgium on Sunday, before playing their match of the international window against Denmark on Wednesday.
