Luke Young is best known as the former England defender who made over 350 Premier League appearances for the likes of Tottenham, Charlton Athletic and Aston Villa.
Since retiring in 2014 Luke has stayed involved in football and is now an agent for Pitch Representation. While it isn’t unheard of for a formerly professional player to become an agent, Luke may well break new ground this January when he goes from being an agent to a professional footballer again.
Luke has been announced to represent England once more – this time in the international six-a-side indoor competition, the Star Sixes. Having participated in the inaugural event in London in 2017, Luke will now head to Glasgow for the three-day tournament from January 4-6. He will line up alongside the likes of Michael Owen, Emile Heskey and David James, while facing the likes of Robert Pires, Jay Jay Okocha and Stiliyan Petrov in the opposition.
Luke said the tournament certainly wasn’t taken lightly by the players.
“Last time out it was a seriously competitive tournament with everyone looking to land the trophy” the 39-year-old revealed.
"Unfortunately we came up short, but we’ll be looking to go further this time around. "It’s great to get the boots back out and get the adrenaline going again and with the rivalries we’re set to encounter it should be a great event.”
The tournament will have six teams playing; Scotland, England, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Wales and a Rest of the World team.
Good luck Luke, do Pitch Representation proud!
