Preview: Ledson, Connell, Virtue in action this weekend

Pitch Representation’s Ryan Ledson is set to start for Preston North End in their derby against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Preston boast a four point advantage over Blackburn on the table and will be looking to extend their streak of 10 unbeaten matches in the Championship.

Ledson, who earned praise for his recent performance against Bristol City, said it was an opportunity to continue his growth after making the step up to Championship this season.

“Being a 21-year-old lad coming from League One up to my first season in the Championship, it’s been a massive learning curve,” said Ledson.

“I can see myself improving and I think it’s showing on the pitch.

“I’m back home in the North West, I’m at a massive club in the Championship and for my first season to be where we are and to have played as many games as I have, I think it’s a good one with 11 games still to go.”

The match kicks off at midday - good luck Ryan!

Connell to boost Bolton

Luca Connell will be in action this weekend when the Bolton Wanderers host Millwall at Macron Stadium on Saturday.

The 17-year-old made his return against Swansea last weekend, having been hampered by illness in recent weeks.

Connell started the season playing in the development side, but a string of impressive performances saw him quickly thrust into the starting XI.

With the threat of relegation hovering over Bolton, Wanderers fans will be hoping for another impactful showing from the attacking midfielder.

Virtue looks to back up midweek goal

Matty Virtue was instrumental in his side’s 2-1 victory over Accrington Stanley midweek, opening his goal scoring account for Blackpool in the process.

Since moving from Liverpool in the transfer window, the box-to-box midfielder has hit the ground running and helped his side to eighth spot in League One.

The next challenge for Virtue and Blackpool will be South End United, who they host at Bloomfield Road on Saturday afternoon.
