Trippier's winning start on and and off the field

Kieran Trippier began his La Liga career in sensational style on Sunday evening, assisting the decisive goal in Atlético Madrid's 1-0 victory over Getafe FC in their 2019-20 season opener.

A Trippier cross to Alvaro Morata in the 23rd minute saw Atlético take a lead they would not relinquish and assured they started their campaign with three points.

The assist continues to grow the positive noise around the 29 year old, with famed Spanish paper Marca declaring Trippier a fantastic buy for Atlético.

Fans react to Trippier assist on debut

Having completed a move to the Spanish giants from Tottenham Hotspurs in mid-July, Trippier has been part of a wildly successful pre-season for Altético, which has featured victories over arch rivals Real Madrid and Italian champions Juventus.

Trippier’s own form has won him early praise amongst the Madrid media and fans, with his assist for the winning goal against Juventus in the International Champions Cup a highlight of note.

And while his performance on the field is off to a strong start, Trippier has been working hard in other areas to try and adapt to his new team and city.

The right back has begun Spanish lessons and spoken of his commitment to embrace and gain a further understanding of the culture in Madrid and Spain. The first evidence of those lessons can be found on Trippier’s Instagram, which has also had a significant boost of 40,000 new followers over the past month.

Trippier and Atlético Madrid will look to build on their strong start to the season when they play Leganes on Sunday.
