Matty Virtue recorded his first goal for Blackpool in their midweek League One game, helping his side to a 2-1 victory away to Accrington Stanley.
Following a short-term injury, Virtue has quickly been thrust back into the starting line-up and made an immediate impact. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder scored five minutes into the encounter, guiding it into the back corner with a precise finish.
Virtue and Blackpool next face Southend United at home on Saturday.
Baxter with a Beauty
Jose Baxter has continued his hot run of form for Oldham Athletic FC with a superb long-distance strike.
Facing Stevenge at Boundary Park, Baxter unleashed from well outside the box to give the home side a 1-0 lead. Stevenge would score in injury time to snatch a draw, but Baxter’s goal was certainly top of the highlight reel from the match.
A strike that Manager Paul Scholes would have been proud of! Baxter and Oldham Athletic next face Cambridge United at on Saturday at Abbey Stadium.
